“Lactose Intolerant” came about in a “hilarious way,” says Kristin Bivins, M.Photog. She was eating dinner with photographer friends at Imaging USA 2016 in Atlanta, and they were discussing ideas for International Photographic Competition. They decided to each come up with an image title and throw it in a bowl; whichever title each one of them drew from the bowl, they’d make an image to suit it. “I pulled out ‘Lactose Intolerant,’ and we all laughed at the possibilities,” she says. “Who would have thought that a fun game between photographer friends would have scored me a Loan image?” Bivins works for Captured Moments Photography by Jason & Kate Higdon, which is based in Owensboro, Kentucky, and specializes in child, family, and senior portraits.
