PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTE: “I knew Colt’s senior year was special—he’d returned to his friends at Smackover High School after being homeschooled because of complications of Lyme disease,” explains Gibbons. Gibbons wanted his portraits to be low key and simple with a focus on his good looks.

LIGHTING: The main light was an AlienBees B400 with a Paul C. Buff 30x60-inch soft box with grid insert; the fill light was a mid-size silver reflective; triggers were PocketWizard Plus IIIs.
POST-CAPTURE: In Photoshop CS6 Gibbons made adjustments to temperature and contrast, did skin blemish touchups using the healing brush tool, and sharpened the eyes.
