Limelight Photography by Bill Miller, Indianapolis, Indiana
PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTE: The photo was shot in a hot garage so the subject would perspire. “Everybody was sweating,” he says. A little baby oil was added to give the subject’s skin additional sheen.
CAMERA & LENS: Nikon D750, AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 ED VR II lens
EXPOSURE: 1/125 second at f/5.6, ISO 160
LIGHTING: The main lights, Godox AD600 Pros with 14x63-inch Godox strip boxes with grids, were on each side of the subject. The fill light was a Godox AD200 in a 3-foot Godox octabox with a grid placed in front of the subject. The hair light was a Godox AD200 in a 12-inch beauty dish with a grid and was held by an assistant standing behind the backdrop and above the subject.
POST-CAPTURE: Sharpening in Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop for an edgy feel, masked layers to brighten highlights, and darkened shadows to punch up the contrast and make the muscles more pronounced
