Scam Alert, June, 2022
Scammers are targeting everyone these days, including PPA members. They have stepped it up a notch and are now impersonating PPA staff. If it seems suspicious, it probably is.

Here are some ways you can identify scams and avoid them:

  1. Emails from PPA staff will come from a “@ppa.com” address. No one at PPA headquarters will email you from a public email domain like “@gmail.com” or “@yahoo.com.”
  2. Scammers may call or email you and impersonate PPA staff. If you’re ever unsure about a call you receive, hang up and contact PPA’s Customer Care Center toll-free: (800) 786-6277. You can also email us at [email protected] to confirm the communication you received is really from us.
  3. PPA may call you about your membership dues, including auto payments on your credit card. You won’t make us feel bad if you tell us you’re going to hang up and call us back!
  4. PPA’s Professional Photographer magazine will never email you to request a payment or money transfer for photo licensing or a subscription.
  5. Don’t be pressured to act immediately. Scammers may try to create a sense of urgency to persuade you to do something quickly. Be wary any time someone tries to convince you that you must act now.

Stay safe and contact us if you have any concerns.
